Townsville’s troubled ReefHQ aquarium has been given $100 million injection to complete its stalled refurbishment.
Although home to Australia’s largest living coral reef exhibit, not everyone is happy about how the funding came about with funds for a new concert being reallocated.
The refurbishment that started in 2021 and was due for completion in 2026 is being led by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.
The design of the new facility have yet to be finalised and the new opening date is yet to be announced.
