Western Australia

With more coastline than any other state, Western Australia boasts some of the most diverse and pristine snorkelling in Australia. It is where turquoise water meets rust-red sea cliffs and desert landscapes.

The UNESCO-listed Ningaloo Reef is the jewel in the crown of Western Australia’s snorkelling gems. Unspoilt and remote, you can snorkel on the reef from the shore making the rich marine life and coral gardens accessible to all ability levels. Swim with giants of the deep on the outer reef including whale sharks, humpback whales and manta rays.

The Leeuwin Current brings warm water and tropical colour and marine life as far south as Busselton and Bunbury. Rottnest Island is also a magic snorkelling spot and a popular day trip from Perth.

With its clear water and abundant marine life, it is easy to see why Western Australia is a snorkelling bucket list location.
