Keep wild dolphins wild in SA

()

Dolphins are one of the most loved marine animals, but can we love them too much?

Eric the dolphin is a regular visitor at the Port Broughton Jetty on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula, but his seemingly friendly personality is proving to tempting for local swimmers.

National Parks and local council officials are warning swimmers not to get too close to Eric as becoming too familiar with people can change their normally friendly demeanour to something more aggressive.

People should keep 30m between themselves and Eric , Obviously with friendly dolphins like Eric, it is not always possible.

For the dolphin’s safety, swimmers are being asked to enjoy Eric from the jetty and not engage with him in the water.
